Preferred Name: Mepivacaine Hydrochloride

Definition: The hydrochloride salt form of mepivacaine, an amide derivative with local anesthetic properties. At the injection site, mepivacaine hydrochloride acts by binding to specific membrane sodium ion channels in the neuronal cell membranes, thereby inhibiting sodium influx.
